Servo Motor Repair for These Brands:
What is a Servo?
The term servomechanism or servo drive actually
applies to a function or a task,
not to any particular device. This function or
task can be described as a command signal issues
from a user's interface panel to the servo's positioning
controller. The positioning controller stores
information about various tasks or jobs. It has
been programmed to activiate the motor/load, i.e.,
change speed/position.
This low power signal passed to the servo control
or amplifier selection, which increases the power
to appropriate levels to move the servo motor/load.
As power is applied to the servo motor, the load
begins to move or change speed and position. As
the load moves, so does some other device, either
a tachometer, resolver or encoder, providing a
signal which is sent back to the servo controller.
This feedback signal informs the positioning controller
whether the motor is doing the proper job. The
positioning controller reads the feedback signal,
determines if the load is being moved properly
by the servo motor, and makes the appropriate
corrections.
Thus, a servo involves several devices and is
a system of devices for controlling an item (load).
The load which is regulated can be controlled
in any manner, i.e., position, direction and speed.
THe speed or position is controlled in relation
to a reference, as long as the proper error detection
device is used.
Preventive maintenance and prompt repair of servo
system components is far less costly than production
downtime due to equipment failure. While we at
Electric Enterprises appreciate your business
and will always be responsive to your needs, our
prime goal is to help you keep your servo systems
in top condition.
